Fleming, Fritz complete inaugural Pennsylvania Legislative Exchange
October 28, 2026
HARRISBURG, Oct. 27 – State Rep. Justin Fleming, D-Dauphin, recently hosted state Rep. Jonathan Fritz, R-Susquehanna/Wayne, to complete their inaugural Pennsylvania Legislative Exchange, an initiative that provides opportunities for legislators to visit districts with constituencies different from their own to learn about the issues facing another lawmaker’s region.
Fleming hosted Fritz for a two-day tour across the Harrisburg region, exploring the critical infrastructure, environmental priorities, and economic drivers shaping local communities.
“Every district has its own story, and I take a lot of pride in ours,” said Fleming. “I was honored to host Rep. Fritz and show him what makes this slice of Dauphin County so special!”
The visit began at Amtrak’s Harrisburg Station, where discussions focused on rail service, accessibility, and future expansion, followed by a visit to the Susquehanna River to examine water quality, flood control, stormwater management, and recreational opportunities, and capped off with a dinner with Harrisburg’s Bhutanese community.
The following day featured conversations with municipal leaders about community needs at Peachtree Restaurant and Lounge, a behind-the-scenes tour of Pennsy Supply’s Fiddler’s Elbow Quarry, and a visit to Hersheypark.
The tour concluded with a working lunch prepared by the students at Dauphin County Technical School and a final stop at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to discuss facility improvements, emergency preparedness, and public safety.
“Spending time and meeting the wonderful people who reside in Rep. Fleming’s district was invaluable. One learns that each region in Pennsylvania has its own set of challenges. But one thing is certain: altruistic people are always there to step up and help look out for their neighbors,” said Fritz. “I could readily see that Rep. Fleming is incredibly well-liked and respected by his fellow community leaders. This has been a most worthwhile experience!”
“Participating in this inaugural legislative exchange with Rep. Fritz was an invaluable opportunity to share our community’s story and learn from one another. Every district faces its own challenges, but what stands out is the dedication of the people who step up to support their neighbors and make a difference,” said Fleming. “Experiences like this remind us how much we can accomplish when we come together to serve the people of Pennsylvania.”
PLE is a program formed by the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics, a nonpartisan civic engagement and public policy initiative. Pennsylvania is the third state in the U.S. to host these legislative exchanges, with similar programs established in Michigan and Minnesota in 2025.
