Fritz, Fleming Participate in Inaugural Pennsylvania Legislative Exchange
September 3, 2026
HARRISBURG – In the true spirit of bipartisanship, Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) recently hosted Rep. Justin Fleming (D-Dauphin) for the first Pennsylvania Legislative Exchange (PLE), an initiative that provides opportunities for legislators to visit districts with constituencies different from their own to learn about the issues facing another lawmaker’s region.
During the visit, Fritz hosted Fleming for a tour spanning across both Susquehanna and Wayne counties, with stops including a premier summer sleepover camp, Camp IHC in Equinunk; showcasing the benefits of natural gas at a Repsol Compressor Station facility; seeing cutting-edge technology at the Susquehanna County Career and Tech Center; and closing out the day at Barbour Farms, a farm that thrives thanks to diversification, unique personal touches and multiple generations’ contributing efforts.
“I will always seize the opportunity to show off my district,” Fritz boasted. “Rep. Fleming and I have developed a genuine friendship since he arrived in the PA House of Representatives. Being able to bring him to the 111th Legislative District and introduce him to the multitude of smiling faces and the vibrant Honesdale downtown, I was able to show him how our rural, small towns are in a revitalization boom and how these counties contribute to the greater good of this Commonwealth. I was proud to show him the place where I call home.”
The PLE pairs representatives from opposing parties to visit each other’s districts, with a special emphasis on assuring these matches introduce the legislators to communities that differ from their own according to geography, economy, culture, politics and community demographics.
“Spending time in another legislator’s district gives us a chance to see firsthand the challenges and opportunities that shape our communities. Traveling with Rep. Fritz was a great opportunity to listen, learn and find common ground," said Fleming. "While our districts and perspectives may be different, we share the same goal of making Pennsylvania a better place to live, work and raise a family. Programs like the Pennsylvania Legislative Exchange are an important reminder that progress happens when we take the time to understand one another and work together on solutions that benefit all Pennsylvanians.”
PLE is a program formed by the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics (IOP), a nonpartisan civic engagement and public policy initiative. Pennsylvania is the third state in the U.S. to host these legislative exchanges, with similar programs established in Michigan and Minnesota in 2025.
Fleming will be hosting Fritz in the coming months.
