Fritz, Brown Announce Funding for Dorflinger Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary
January 30, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) and Sen. Rosemary Brown (R-Lackawanna/Monroe/Wayne) are happy to announce the Dorflinger Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary is set to receive $250,000 through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP).
Dorflinger Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary Inc. will use this funding for improvements to the stage and amphitheater structure, including a roof over the existing 4,300-square-foot stage that is used for the Wildflower Summer Concert Series and the ever-popular Fall Music Festival.
“Dorflinger's music venue is a premier gathering site. These improvements will only add to this one-of-kind setting,” Fritz said. "Music, friendship and happiness are all intertwined. When I attend events here, all I see are smiles. It is very special. Good for the soul. I am delighted to help bring funds home for our amazing attractions. This is what makes the 111th such a great place to live."
Brown echoed the support and stated, “It’s not easy for facilities to modernize, maintain and upgrade their venues to continue to provide fabulous programming and entertainment to our residents. This funding supports the arts and, most of all, supports enjoyment and life experiences for our residents, families and visitors.”
The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program funds projects that develop, rehabilitate, and enhance public parks, trails, and green spaces to encourage community engagement and healthy living.
